I just listened to the "Spamapaloser" episode on email marketing. I agree 100%. You mentioned using an RSS feed. Here are my questions:
Although most people who make it to an online store will have some knowledge of email, how familiar do you think people are with RSS? While in the future it will be more commonly used, at present do you think RSS is ready for "prime time"?, as it were.

With IE7 and FireFox representing most of the browser use, now is the time. I believe it's up to designers and developers to present the feeds in a way that the average Joe gets it - add links that say "Subscribe to this page" instead of "Subscribe to our newsletter" and that will start the ball rolling. The more of us that do it, the better.
